Junk Mail Problems?

Can't find email that was sent to you?

Email being caught in your Junk E-mail folder?

There is no doubt that spam and unwanted junk email is a huge problem. And while you might have trouble sending email to other people (see war on spam) sometimes you can't receive email that other people sent to you.

While there may be a half dozen reasons why email won't get through, there are several ways you can fix it.

First, understand that spam filtering is done in several places. The sending email server, your receiving email server, your computer and your email program all might be attempting to filter spam. The easiest place to start looking is with the Outlook program on your computer.

When you can't find an email that you know was sent to you, the first place to look is in your Outlook Junk E-Mail folder. If you find valid email that was automatically placed in your Junk Email folder, it's easy to set Outlook to treat those emails as not junk.

In Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007, open up your Junk E-mail folder and highlight the email message. Then right click the message and choose the following options as shown below:

If email is being blocked before it gets to Outlook, you need to see if your computer has any extra spam filters in place. Your computer may have Norton or other 3rd party email filtering software installed.

The next place to check after that is on your email server. If you log into your webmail you might find the missing emails are there and might be able to adjust some of the filter settings there as well.

There are several other places that might block valid email. Contact us for more help with that.
