Here's a trick to optimize your VPN connection.

TRICK #1 : Turn off the remote gateway:


After you have it setup (but before you connect), go into the VPN properties, and then Internet Protocol properties:



Go to Advanced properties:



Remove the checkmark so that you don't use the default gateway on remote network:
